This year, Woods Maintenance Services, Inc. proudly celebrates 50 years of serving Southern California with dependable commercial exterior maintenance services. Since our founding in 1975, we’ve grown from a small local operation into a trusted industry leader known for excellence in landscaping and irrigation, pressure washing, graffiti removal, and debris and vegetation abatement.
More than the number of years, this milestone represents the legacy of people who have shaped Woods Maintenance Services, from our leadership to our field team, and the clients and communities we’ve proudly served. As we celebrate five decades, we take time to reflect on our roots, and share our vision for the next 50 years.
From 1975 to Today: A Legacy of Growth and Evolution
The story of Woods Maintenance Services began with a simple promise: deliver site services with integrity. In our early years, the work was modest: janitorial support and basic property upkeep for local clients. But the commitment to do each job with care laid the foundation for what would come next.
Through the 1980s and 1990s, demand for our services grew, as did our expertise. We began taking on large-scale commercial campuses and municipal contracts. As technology and environmental concerns evolved in the 2000s, so did we by adopting water-efficient irrigation systems, integrating sustainable best practices, and modernizing reporting and scheduling to better serve our clients.
Today, Woods Maintenance Services provides commercial exterior maintenance across Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura, and the Inland Empire. Our team supports a broad range of properties including government and commercial office buildings, multifamily communities, retail centers, and industrial facilities.
None of this progress would have been possible without the dedicated professionals who continue to lead us forward.
Meet the Leadership Behind the Legacy
At the helm of Woods Maintenance Services is a leadership team rooted in family values, operational excellence, and community engagement.
Barry Woods, Founder and President, established Woods Maintenance Services in 1975 shortly after graduating from UCLA. Over the past 50 years, Barry has guided the company with a vision for excellence and a heart for service. His efforts in beautification and enhancement have been recognized by the City of Los Angeles and beyond. As a member of the CSOP Board of Directors, Barry has helped raise over $6 million for charities including Make-A-Wish and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. When he’s not working, Barry enjoys traveling with his wife and spending time at the beach.
Jeff Woods, General Manager and a founding partner of the company’s predecessor, D & B Maintenance, Jeff returned to Woods Maintenance Services in 1998. His strategic oversight and deep knowledge of information technology have been instrumental in streamlining day-to-day operations and driving internal innovation. Regarded as “the glue” of the company, Jeff is known for his calm leadership, problem-solving mindset, and love of golf.
Josh Woods, Chief Operations Manager, rejoined Woods Maintenance Services in 2009 after building a successful career across Michigan, New York, and Illinois. His entrepreneurial drive and focus on operational efficiency have helped modernize our business while honoring our longstanding values. When not working, Josh is a devoted family man who supports his children’s athletic and artistic pursuits.
Jared Woods, Director of Special Projects, has been part of the Woods Maintenance Services family since the early 1990s. After gaining outside experience, he returned to lead our headquarters relocation and oversee the implementation of new technologies in field service management. Jared brings energy to his work, and to his passions for motorcycles, cycling, and live music.
Rebeca Perez, Director of Business Development, plays a crucial role in driving growth and deepening client relationships. An active contributor to the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Rebeca strengthens the presence of Woods Maintenance Services in both public and private sectors. She thrives on new experiences, travel, and quality time with family.
Our 50-Year Journey of Service Excellence
1975 – Our Beginnings
Originally founded as D & B Maintenance Service, Inc., we began as a janitorial maintenance contractor, proudly servicing apartment buildings, condominiums, industrial parks, and office buildings across Southern California. From day one, our mission was clear: to provide reliable, professional property care that communities could count on.
1981 – Expanding into Pressure Washing
We launched Hydro Pressure Systems, which has grown to become the largest licensed pressure washing contractor in California. For more than four decades, Hydro Pressure Systems has delivered safe, efficient, and large-scale exterior cleaning for public and private sector clients statewide.
1984 – Setting New Standards in Graffiti Removal
With the rise of urban graffiti, we created Graffiti Control Systems. As industry pioneers, we became the first contractor in the nation to use portable spectrophotometers for on-site paint color matching—establishing a new industry standard for accuracy and efficiency in graffiti abatement.
1997 – A New Era of Growth
To better reflect our expanding capabilities, we reorganized and rebranded as Woods Maintenance Services, Inc. This new chapter solidified our role as a comprehensive environmental services provider, trusted by municipalities, utilities, and private-sector partners alike.
2012 – Strengthening Our Landscaping Expertise
We introduced Woods Landscape Services, specializing in high-quality landscape maintenance and irrigation management. For more than a decade, our dedicated landscape teams have enhanced properties with sustainable, well-maintained outdoor environments that improve curb appeal and community pride.
2019 – Addressing Critical Community Needs
We established Homeless Encampment Services (HES), providing full-service trash and vegetation abatement after encampment clearings. Our compassionate, professional crews handle everything from posting notices to safely removing debris and personal belongings—working closely with law enforcement and public agencies to restore safety, health, and cleanliness in local communities.
